I use it to write down an idea, to organize concepts. I believe that a sketchbook should not be used too much: the ability to visualize and imagine the final goal with your mind is fundamental and priority. But in some cases it is useful to check some measures, for example to match certain colors to prepare the glazes.

I use a medium point Kaweco fountain pen to draw with and to color I use a much loved watercolor kit from Windsor & Newton. It is very compact and has a high quality brush.

It fits easily in your backpack, but it would also fit in your pocket.
